In New York, you can carry a concealed gun if you are:
- At least 21 years old, unless you are an honorably discharged member of the military
- A resident, part-time resident, or have your principal place of business in New York
- Have a New York Permit to Carry a License (NYPL)
- Have completed the required firearm safety training
Requirements
- You must complete a state-regulated firearms training course
- The training includes a 16-hour classroom course and a 2-hour live-fire component
- The application process may vary depending on the type of license and the issuing county
Restrictions
- You cannot bring a gun into New York City unless your license has been validated by the city
- You cannot bring a gun into certain “sensitive locations”
- Your license may be restricted to certain circumstances, such as only being able to carry it during hunting
