Why do I need a class or to further my knowledge
FIREARMS TRAINING IS ESSENTIALS FOR EVERYONE RATHER YOU HAVE A PISTOL PERMIT OR NOT, AND NOT EVER SITUATION IS THE SAME. BY ATTENDING DIFFERENT CLASSES IT WILL GIVE YOU THE CONFIDENCE AND SKILLS NEEDED WHEN A SITUATION OCCURS.
firearms training incorporates everything you need to be prepared to defend yourself, your home, your loved ones, and others who are in danger. We offer comprehensive firearms training that will teach you practical shooting techniques and important gun safety.
What are the legal restrictions to attend a class
New York State Law
must be at least 21 years old and have never been convicted of a felony, serious offense, or other specified violation, or the subject of some designated restraining orders related to domestic problems.
Children 8 and older can shoot long guns with an adult 21 or older. Children 13 and older can shoot pistols with an adult 21 or older
Children 10–17 can shoot with a parent or guardian present. Shooters must be 18 or older with a valid photo ID

COMMENTS: Fingerprinting and application by appointment only at Sheriff’s Dept. Proof of Wayne Co. residency of at least 6 months is required. When filing application, 4 references are required and must be from Wayne Co., not employed by any law enforcement agency or related in any way and must know the applicant for at least 3 years. All changes or additions to existing licenses are only handled at the Wayne County Clerk’s Office. Additional references may be required if resident of Wayne County for less than 3 years.
TRAINING: 18-hour Safety Course is required.
FEES: $118.25 CASH ONLY at Sheriff’s Office covers fingerprinting, and photos. $13 to amend existing license at County Clerk’s Office. Clerk’s Office will accept a check by mail or cash, check or credit card in-person only

COMMENTS: Fingerprints and background investigations are done by the Sheriff’s Office. Local references are required.
TRAINING: Safety Course is required.
FEES: $10 processing fee, payable by cash, check or money order, $94.25 for fingerprinting payable by money order or cashier’s check

Ontario

COMMENTS: Licenses are generally unrestricted based on judge’s approval. Four local references who have known the applicant for 5 years are required. If applicant is a new resident, he must still supply local references as well as references from his previous county of residence. Background investigations will be conducted by the Sheriff’s Dept. Processing time is approximately 8 months to one year.
TRAINING: Safety course training is required. A list of approved providers is available. To receive application by mail, send $3 with request and include SASE for return.
FEES: $3 fee paid to the County Clerk’s Office in cash or by check, $20 fee to submit application which includes photograph payable by cash or check.

COMMENTS: Complete application packets available online and in person. Packet includes breakdown of fees. Licenses are issued for concealed carry, possess on premises, or possess during employment. Current processing time is 9 – 16 months.
TRAINING: Required for concealed carry. A list of approved providers is available. Sheriff’s Dept. offers free training but not for concealed carry. Classes conducted by the Sheriff’s Dept. at no charge.
FEES: City of Rochester residents ONLY – $125.00 payable to City of Rochester – personal checks accepted as well as cash, money order, and credit cards, except AMEX. An additional $17 fee payable to Monroe Co. Clerk’s office covers the application and photographs. Outside City of Rochester, fee is $129.00 payable to Monroe Co. Clerk’s office.
